Large Hadron Collider

The Large Hadron Collider series (2006-2017) takes its name form the largest particle accelerator in the world, located at CERN.  Most of the paintings from this series are based on the physical apparatus of the accelerator, which is located in vast underground spaces connected by an enormous ring tunnel filled with superconducting magnets. The works are executed in acrylic on both sides of transparent mylar, with a realistic architectural rendering of the detector on the front side of the mylar, and an explosive process-based abstraction on the back side.
